Behind the Scenes...
Throwing Pots
There are many methods and tools for throwing pots. One tool I like to use is the Speedball Bose Base to easily open the piece and create a consistent bottom thickness each time.
Trimming Pots
Once each pot has firmed up a bit, it is put back onto the pottery wheel and trimmed to reveal the final shape. Sometimes texture is added to create an interesting surface.
Bisque Fired Hanging Planters
Hanging Air Plant Holders waiting for their designs to be painted with underglaze, then covered in clear and coordinating glaze colors.
Painted Cactus Design
The details in the cactus design on the bisque pot are individually painted with multiple colors of underglaze. These colors have a pastel and chalky look until they come out of the glaze fire!
Glaze Time!
Each of these small wish Dishes and ornaments are painted with underglaze and then covered with 3 coats of clear glaze. This seals in the color and gives a shiny appearance.
